Michigan's own, Charlotte Scott (c/o 94) wrote a children's book explaining some of the miracles of Jesus. It's not just for smaller kids, but for the "big" little kids too like 10-12. Amazon is out of stock right now, but if you're interested, you can purchase the book through the publisher @ http://rathsipublishing.com/.
Product Description
Beautiful rendition of the Biblical stories for today's youth. The scriptures come to life through the captivating illustrations of teen phenom illustrator Jeremy Hughes.

About the Author
Ms. Scott received her Bachelor of Arts degree in social work from Kentucky State University and her Master of Arts degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Michigan State University. Her professional career started as a unit supervisor managing therapeutic groups and providing individual treatment at New Center Community Mental Health Agency. Ms. Scott has worked as a clinical therapist and trainer for a number of years. She has a zeal for life and a passion for helping people. Her life has brought her to a deep understanding of the importance of positive input and its production of powerful outcomes. She is the author of 3 books. Author's Statement: I am, as I have also learned myself, to help people learn how to love themselves, and gain inner peace in order to obtain outward success. Communication, in this world, is key. One of my life's goals is to assist people in developing effective communication skills, while cultivating, not working relationships, but relationships that work! Often the search proves more than the goal.

De'Rone and I attend Detroit Benedictine together.

Much KSU love,

Hello Detroit. I am De’Rone Buffington, I am running for Detroit City Council and I am asking for your support.

As a lifelong Detroit resident, I am committed both personally and professionally to doing everything I can to return Detroit to its days of greatness, even as we prepare to meet the challenges of a future fraught with both peril and promise.

Michigan is changing right before our very eyes. So is our beloved city. Our success will depend upon whether or not we are prepared to meet the new challenges that lay ahead. If Detroit is to be competitive and regain its status as a world class community, it is going to require a new approach to dealing with our economic, social, educational and political challenges.

For far too long now, personal agendas and partisan politics have debased Detroit’s political process, battered our city’s image and demoralized the public. This type of politics has no place within Detroit City Council chambers. Council members must conduct themselves with the honor and dignity befitting the office they hold. If I have the honor of being elected, I promise to treat my office and colleagues with the utmost respect and in the professional manner the office and citizens deserve.

I realize that to be elected to city council is a privilege and it comes with a solemn responsibility to look out for the interest of nearly one million people. Therefore, the best interests of the city and its citizens should be the number one priority of any city council member – regardless of where they live.

The citizens of Detroit have basic needs that must be met by their city government and its leaders. Among them are:

• Feeling safe in our homes and neighborhoods
• A quality and safe education for our children
• Efficient and effective city services
• Create incentives to keep our most productive, positive and creative citizens from leaving our city
• Knowing that our leaders really care about our problems and concerns, remembering they are public servants who work for the taxpayers – not the other way around

Detroiters deserve the same quality of life that is offered in other major cities and to our suburban neighbors. We have to create an environment which encourages community involvement, where people feel engaged in the process of helping to restore our city and once again feel vested in it.

City government cannot and will not change by itself. Only through the collective effort of citizens and leaders will we be able to emerge from our present challenges – and we will.

Detroit, we can do much better and deserve much better from our leaders and ourselves. I am asking for your support in helping to make a change for a better Detroit.
